KUPPI - (Pocket Lectures)

Becoming the best?

Well, that doesn't sound crazy but quite impossible, to keep walking the pathway it is just said to be correct. And here, I have question.

"Is it really necessary to follow the so called rules or whatever the regulations?"

As I have heard, well actually seen on internet and social media, the successful people has become to that position by breaking the rules - not the ones regulated, but I hope you know what I meant. And you see, that there are many pages, accounts or groups based with the topic "motivation". Is that really needed?

Starting to turn head around the exams in the university which recently began, Like all my pals, I turned out to be a messed character with the so called exam-phobia. And the "hard work" - honestly I can't say - would already led me in to the situation to talk about the exam rather than working for the results.

And here is where the need of motivation comes. LOL! Yes, that's not my topic today. Trust me, I am ****ing lazy at exam period. :-P :-P :-P

Trying weeds, alcohol and finally the you-tube, the true enlightenment never came. Then I heard the word "KUPPI".

KUPPI by all means is a bunch of undergraduates being taught by a fellow undergraduate the lessons they missed or could never understand. Most of the time, a one from the senior batch comes and teaches the juniors the harder sessions. And amazing point you find here is that the fellow graduates get a whole semester in hours of these type of KUPPI.

The KUPPI has two categories;

1. KUPPIYA (the general term)
2. MAL PAATHTHIYA

As the word "KUPPIYA" is generally used for the teaching of an undergraduate to the fellow undergraduates, it becomes "MAL PAATHTHIYA" when the total beneficiaries becomes girls. This term is simply applied if and only if a male student teaching the female students.

Getting back to my scenario, I was taught by a KUPPI and look, I was motivated before the exam. This is the beauty of Sri Lankan University Life. It's all about taking care of each other.

And look, I am still having year and a half to stay at my university.

Well, the little ones who read this, guys, go ahead, learn what you love, work what you love, earn what you deserve...

All the very best!

Ifthar with Rotary Badulla

It's been a while since Rotaract Club of Badulla took a little break, just because the examination period of Uva Wellassa University started. Suddenly the President of Rotary Club of Badulla 2016/17, Mr. Suresh Kumaar Shanmugam called me on 1st of July.

Wishing me and my club members a Happy Rotaract Year, he proposed me to hold a Ifthar program as the very first project to host by the Rotaray with the support of my team. Calling my junior, Hameez from 1st Year, who was my colleague at my school times, I asked him the things to know especially about the organizers of their usual Ifthar program and then contacted Nilaf from 3rd Year and got necessary information, about the costs and other stuff.

Informing Mr. Suresh (Rotary Preident) and Mrs. Dilki (Rotary Youth Service), the program was confirmed to be held at the date 3rd July - Sunday.

having a meeting with Mr. Suresh together with my board, we had a nice informal meeting and discussed about the things to do in the coming year with the support of our parent club.

The program was solely sponsored by the Rotary Club of Badulla and as Rotaractors, my team was there at our best, trying to make a greater impression on ourselves and also on our club. The program was first introduced by the President of Islamic Union of UWU, Riskhan and then handed over the welcome note to my self. Taking not much time, the program was announced start with the prayers.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Suresh talked more about the Rotary International and it's contribution and service, including the Rotary's contribution on polio ending. Also he stated about the Rotary as a place where the humanity comes first highlighting the Rotary theme for the year 2016/17 - Rotary Serving Humanity.

My self then given the opportunity to talk to the gathering and I simply stated about the Rotaract Badulla and our vision inviting the gathering to join hands with our club.

The whole program was a better beginning for the new year and for the first time, I could let most of my members to have an exposure - what is Rotaract.

Thank You ROTARACT!
