බෝඩින් වැසියෝ... @ Gigum 2015

Vasu Dewaki is a 2nd Year BBM (Hospitality, Tourism & Events Management) undergraduate at Uva Wellassa University (in 2016) and also a renowned poet in the university. Her writing style mostly covers the topic of love and the struggling couples.

Thanking what she is given in her life, she is composing the words to express her through feelings where her writing makes the reader feel like real.

This song was previously a concept by Vasu Dewaki and for the composing purposes, and under the guidance of Mr. Ajith Kumarasiri, the lyrics were separately wrote in order for the audience's convenience.

Also the song comprises with several events recently happened at the time it was written and expresses the 'togetherness' of the students in a "university sub culture"...

අරමුණක් නැති ජීවිතේ... @ Gigum 2015

Purposeless Life is what? The meaning you would look for will not be the same you are going to find. As a university student, what and how do you explain the expectation before and after coming to the university. Or is it the system?

These kind of roll of questions are asked by Sri Lankan undergraduates  each and everyday and they ask them selves the same. The world which was created by the Advanced level tutors won't the same as the reality. People suffer. Students struggle for education. Politics control everything and yet the students look and fight for their place.

System may not be the same calm shit as you expected. Then you get to know what is really going on. This is how this song was written to the "Gigum" by my self. I just do not waste time, you may read it below.

ඒයි මචන්... @ Gigum 2015

The song "Eei Machan" was written to express the experience of hanging out with a women. The man here writes pems to express his feelings to the woman he loves and the struggles a normal family meet is expressed through some harsh language in this song.

As an alternative experiment, throughout "Gigum" it was a visionary idea by Naleen Chinthaka - President of Uva Wellassa university Art Club and as a result of a previously held ticket show with the band "Ghosha". The Show "Out of Bound" by "Ghosha" was a milestone Uva Wellassa University music enthusiasts and as a result of a collective operation, the show came in to the audience.

හීන දකින්නට... @ Gigum 2015

"Heena dakinnata" was written with the intention to emphasize the need of sex education in Sri Lankan society. Especially when it comes to the youth, they when they are with they are partners, try to find place to spend some alone time and dark spaces tend to become popular which is practically seen on Viharamahadevi park Colombo etc. That need of hanging out in the dark when it comes to the university is covered at everywhere possible.

In Uva Wellassa University, there are small cubics covered from 3 sides facing to the lecture halls. These are meant to waiting cubics for students and in some areas, and after 5.00 PM when the sunlight reduces and darkening the environment, the cubics becomes the greater hide-out for the couples which originally serves same as the "box-apartments" in Cinemas.

1st verse is meant to say that the "love making" let the grass move and then the security comes, the couple have to leave.

2nd verse is meant to say that "Preethi" (a condom brand) brings the "prethiya" (happiness) and wealth reduces, but the couple have to leave.

3rd verse is meant to say that the start of the vacation leads the couple do anything as the room mates and friends are leaving.

The whole idea of the song is simply the couple's excited feeling to "do it"... - Yes you know what I mean, LOL :P

සුජී... @ Gigum 2015

Sujee in the sense a character among the Sri Lankan community which was popularized by the mid 2015 as a result of a video leakage of a woman in middle east accusing her husband via a phone call. Using a harsh language, she was asking a person named "Sujee" to hand over the phone to a child.

The incident was popular and led to many public awareness about the families where the women flew for money for foreign employment. The spirit of this song was to point out that the money runs through society's veins and to point out that every problem a man gets is a result of mankind. Here, at the end of the song, the singer has to address the audience and all the variations are meant to express the pain in the real truth.

The song was originally written by my self for the Gigum 2015 - An alternative music experiment by Uva Wellassa University Music Circle. Here I would like to thank Mr. Ajith Kumarasiri AKA "Rock Ajith" the renowned alternative artist and Animal Science Undergraduates (2015) of UWU for preparing the arrangements to make this even a success!

සීතලයි රෝමියෝ... @ Gigum 2015

This song was originally written by my self specifically for the "Gigum" alternative music experiment by Uva Wellassa University Music Circle. The song was then first composed by Mr. Ajith Kumarasiri AKA "Rock Ajith" who is a popular underground and alternative musician who believes that the music is coming from all the stuff around people. "Gigum" first show was a success with the classical guitarist Viran Susira and rest of the crew guided by the President of the UWU Art Circle, Naleen Chinthaka and Manori Menuka.
